Now that the primary runoff election is behind us, we have our slate and are looking forward to November! Our CEC meeting will take place Thursday, June 14th at the historic courthouse in Belton, 101 W Central Avenue at 6:30 p.m. Philippa Wood, TDP’s training director, will join us to hook you up with training the Texas Democratic Party has online. We have to bring our best effort to the midterms: being well trained is important!
What we’ve been up to this month:
*Hosted Beto O’Rourke for a run in Killeen
*Hosted Beto O’Rourke for a block walk in Temple
*Attended a LULAC fundraiser in Killeen
*Attended the Central Texas Regional Summit
*Held a roundtable with community leaders re candidate recruitment
*Attended a NAACP planning event for Volunteer Deputy Registrars
*Runoff election
*Built a new website
*Moved out of our Temple office
*Scheduled GOTV through Election Day, November 6
*Hosted a mixer at the Green Door in Temple
*Coalition building with Lakeway volunteers who want to help in Bell County
*Attended Commissioners Court to thank them for beginning phase one of new voting equipment!
*Attended Shirley Fleming’s Texas! Save our youth panel on human trafficking
This summer we will be building lists for phone banking and canvassing. The GOTV committee is looking for volunteers to walk and talk with us. Please give Frank Carlson your name if you want to be on the team! Frankedwardcarlson@gmail.com
We have canceled the pool party for June 16th as too many things were happening at once. And we will not hold an August CEC meeting. Join us on July 12th for our regular meeting.
